Morgan stars alongside David Gandy in Aspinal of London launch

  • Morgan Motor Company supportes launch of David Gandy, Aspinal of London collection
  • The Aspinal of London, Aerodrome range by David Gandy takes inspiration from Spitfire aircraft, similar to Morgan’s Spitfire 3 Wheeler
  • David Gandy seen driving Morgan 3 Wheeler across England’s capital city London

David Gandy has been out exploring the streets of London in a Spitfire Morgan 3 Wheeler with Aspinal of London bags packed, ahead of the official Aerodrome Collection launch party.

Internationally successful, British model, David Gandy has joined forces with the luxury leather group, Aspinal of London, to launch an exclusive range of gentleman’s accessories. Inspired by the legendary Spitfire, the Aerodrome range combines Gandy’s recognisable style with the leather company’s trademark quality with their expertise in craftsmanship.

It came with great honour that Morgan were asked to support this launch and to see their specialised 3 Wheeler, which also shares design inspiration from the single-seater fighter aircraft. The Malvern-based company, Morgan, provided three examples of the unique model for the occasion and these were collected from their leading dealership in Kensington.

David Gandy has been spotted driving the super cool 3 wheeler in some of London’s most notable areas such as Piccadilly Circus. Later, the trend-setting model arrived to the official launch of the Aerodrome collection also in the Spitfire Morgan 3 Wheeler.

First Morgan Aero GT rolls off Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road production line

  • Morgan Motor Company unveiled a new limited-run variant of the Aero 8 – the race-inspired Aero GT – at the Geneva Motor Show 2018
  • The first customer car has now been completed, just weeks after global launch
  • Just eight examples of the Aero GT will be produced, marking the end of Aero 8 production at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road factory
  • The Aero GT features the Morgan N62 V8 engine. As with the Plus 8 50th Anniversary model that was also revealed at Geneva, this will be the final Morgan model to feature this naturally aspirated V8 engine
  • The first car is finished in stunning Miami Blue with black interior

At the Geneva Motor Show, Morgan Motor Company revealed its most extreme road-going model to date, the Aero GT – and the first edition has now rolled off the production line, destined for Revolutions Morgan in Scotland.

Morgan Motor Company will produce just eight of the special Aero GT variants – all vehicles individually built bespoke to customer specification. The Aero GT represents the end of Aero 8 production, guaranteeing that every Aero 8 owner will be the custodian of a very significant piece of Morgan history.

Powered by the same 367bhp BMW N62 V8 engine used in the Aero 8, the Aero GT will travel from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 170mph. Each Aero GT will be built with Morgan’s latest adjustable suspension and come with manual transmission.

Each customer will have an individual design consultancy with Jon Wells, Morgan’s Head of Design, before the car enters production. This, the first customer car to be completed, is finished in Miami Blue, which perfectly complements the aggressive body styling unique to the Aero GT.

The striking body panels of the Aero GT have been sculpted in such a way to ensure that tension and elegance is expressed in each line. All surfacing of the new panels was proven digitally via Computation Fluid Dynamics simulation prior to full scale validation. Each panel is created using the technologically advanced Superforming process synonymous with modern Morgans, before being hand-finished and transformed into Aero GT panels.

The front canard details and wing top louvre vents are proven to reduce low pressure on the sides of the Aero body, making a notable difference in frontal downforce. At the rear, the dramatic diffuser reduces air pressure from beneath the vehicle, increasing rear downforce and reducing the visual weight of the rear-end.

Finite enamelled ‘GT’ badges signify the model variant. Each is individually hand made by a British Jeweller.

The interior is hand-finished with a series of painted stitching and pinstripe accents, and an extended choice of wood options.

Steve Morris, Managing Director said: “Every Morgan is built to an exacting specification and is bespoke to each customer and the first Aero GT off the production line looks superb in every way. It was a pleasure to reveal the car to the world just a few weeks ago, to see the first car leave the factory is an honour and I know the new owner will be delighted when they take delivery.”

Morgan Motor Company to bring iconic Routemaster Bus back to the British public

  • Morgan Motor Company to reform the second-to-last Routemaster bus to have retired
  • Routemaster bus shares same 50th anniversary celebrations with Morgan Plus 8
  • The bus will be at events with Morgan throughout 2018 and the public will once again be allowed on board
  • Over its lifetime, the vehicle is estimated to have covered over 1.5 million miles
  • Routemaster registration: SMK 759F
  • Fleet code: RML2759

Morgan Motor Company will bring an iconic Routemaster bus – the second-to-last edition to have been withdrawn from service – back to the British public at events throughout 2018.

Manufactured, like the first Morgan Plus 8, in 1968 and delivered for its first service in January of thatyearthis Routemaster – registration SMK 759F – is expected to have clocked over 1.5 million miles during its lifetime. The vehicle was withdrawn from service nearly 44 years after birth and was given an admirable send-off on 9th December 2005. Crowds gathered along the 159 bus route, from Marble Arch to Brixton, as it took its final journey.

Morgan Motor Company has since acquired the bus at the beginning of this year, which is in incredible condition and work is underway to make sympathetic conversions. Preserving its characteristics and many of its original features, the Routemaster will share 50th anniversary celebrations with the Plus 8 and be an accomplice at multiple events for Morgan throughout 2018, showcasing the iconic features of the Morgan brand.

The Malvern-based company is renowned for its hand-crafted vehicles, true craftsmanship that can be transferred, therefore it is fitting that all designs for the bus as well as enhancements will all be carried out in-house.

This bus,RML2759, features a 7.7-litre Iveco diesel engine. Its sister vehicle and very last of its kind to be taken out of service can be found on display at the London Bus Museum at Brooklands.

Steve Morris, Managing Director of Morgan Motor Company, said: “The Routemaster bus is arguably one of the most iconic vehicles in existence, it services as a symbol of Britain and is part of our national identity. It therefore gives us great pleasure to continue the life of one of the last decommissioned buses as our event space. Morgan has an exciting year ahead, and we can’t wait to utilise the bus at events all around the UK. Our plans for the bus will make it the ideal event space for Morgan customers and enthusiasts alike.

Morgan Motor Company teases Plus 8 50th Anniversary Edition ahead of Geneva Motor Show reveal

  • Morgan Motor Company has released teaser images of its upcoming Plus 8 50th Anniversary Edition ahead of its reveal at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6
  • Each 50th Anniversary Special Edition will be issued an individual number and will represent the final 50 Plus 8 vehicles Morgan builds with the acclaimed BMW 4.8L V8
  • Teaser images reveal a blue lacquered finish, reminiscent of Morgan’s first production Plus 8 (known as MMC 11) and hand-finished yellow accents on the iconic front grill, engine cover and rear towing eyes
  • Performance pedigree underpins every Plus 8 ever built, with a combination of craftsmanship, luxury and technology

Morgan Motor Company has released the first teaser images of the much anticipated 50th Anniversary Edition of its iconic Plus 8 ahead of its full reveal at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6.

Named after the famous eight-cylinder engine beneath the car’s hand-built body, over 6,000 Plus 8 models have been built in the last 50 years at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road home.

The family-owned, bespoke sports car manufacturer will produce 50 of the special-edition models, each to be sold through its existing dealership network. The Plus 8 50th anniversary edition will be a true V8-powered thoroughbred tribute to the model that has been Morgan’s crowning vehicle for 50 years.

The teaser images released by Morgan show a blue lacquered paint finish, reminiscent of the British coachbuilder’s first Plus 8 production model (known as MMC11), with hints of hand-painted yellow accents around the car’s iconic front grill, along the bonnet and on the rear towing eyes.

Born on the racetrack, the Morgan Plus 8 is a special combination of craftsmanship, luxury and technology. A lightweight aluminium chassis and 4.8-litre BMW engine sit beneath the traditional Morgan body. At just 1,100kg, the Plus 8 is one of the lightest V8 passenger cars in the world and is capable of 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds as well as a top speed of 155mph.

First conceived by Peter Morgan, the head-turning Plus 8 prototype was revealed to the public at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1968. Approximately 6,000 Plus 8s were produced during this time until the car was discontinued in 2004 when production of the Rover V8 engine ceased.

In 2012, the Plus 8 was reborn into the Morgan range, on a lightweight aluminium chassis with the powerful 4.8-litre BMW engine, as used in the Aero range. With a restyled body, the new Plus 8 was proportionally larger and significantly quicker than any ‘classic’ Morgan before it. The Plus 8 50th Anniversary Edition will be the last Morgan sports car to feature the naturally aspirated V8 engine.

This car makes its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6th.

Steve Morris, Managing Director of Morgan Motor Company, said:

“This 50th Anniversary Edition is a fitting illustration of the Plus 8’s beauty and finesse, coupled with raw exhilaration and capability. Performance has underpinned every one of the Plus 8s that have driven out of our factory gates for 50 years and we’re excited to reveal the car in full in Geneva.”

Jon Wells, Head of Design at Morgan Motor Company, said:

“Firmly established as Morgan’s crowning vehicle for fifty years, the Morgan Plus 8 continues to pioneer new technology within the classic Morgan bloodline. When combined with an uncompromising attention to craftsmanship, luxury and material choice, there is no more desirable Gentleman racer.

Morgan Motor Company has today announced record profitability and growth as it continues to roll out a long-term strategy plan under the guidance of Chairman Dominic Riley, Managing Director Steve Morris and family shareholders – keeping up the positive momentum in the family owned business.

Year-end financial reports released today announce record growth from the 109-year-old company with a 19 percent increase in revenue against 2016 to £36m, improved group margins with an increase of 12 percent, a 13 percent increase in group net assets and an increase in pre-tax profits to £2m.

Last year saw strong performances from all sectors of the Morgan business, including a new technological partnership with Frazer-Nash for EV development, future-proofing with long-lead new model planning and strategic in-house appointments within the management team coupled with increased marketing activity.

Product sales continue to be strong with export sales up 10 percent, helped by new partner growth within the global dealer network. Recently launched models, the Aero GT and 50th Anniversary V8, sold out upon unveiling and all vehicles produced at Malvern continue to be pre-sold, with no vehicles being produced for pre-registration.

Last year also saw the re-acquisition of the land on which the factory is built, plus the purchase of the Visitor Centre has proved a significant investment which helps to provide stable foundations for Morgan’s future growth plans and reverses a land buy-back deal that has been effective since 2006.

Steve Morris, Managing Director, said: “The last year has seen us develop our long-term strategy for sustainable new products, exciting development plans, a visionary business approach and a real focus on longevity, customer care and dealer relations. To see such strong results for the business as a result shows that our strategy is sound and is a real credit to our dedicated, passionate and ever-growing workforce.

“I’m proud to announce our excellent year-end results, but far from resting on our laurels we are looking forward to a strong 2018, the next stage of which will see some brand new cars being unveiled at Geneva in a few weeks’ time.”

Dominic Riley, Chairman, said: “Once again the results speak for themselves. We are stronger than ever with record revenue growth, increased employment, a clear vision for the future and strong demand for product from customers around the globe. Morgan Motor Company has never been stronger.”

  • The 50th Anniversary Special Edition will be revealed in full at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March
  • The luxurious 50th Anniversary Special Edition will include specific design details that celebrate half a century of Plus 8 production

Morgan Motor Company will celebrate its most iconic Plus 8 with a 50th Anniversary Special Edition. The British marque has today released teaser images and video for the exclusive special edition ahead of its much-anticipated reveal at the Geneva Motor Show.

The family-owned, bespoke sports car manufacturer will produce 50 of the special edition models, each to be sold through their existing Dealership network. The Plus 8 50th anniversary edition will be a true V8-powered thoroughbred tribute to Morgan’s most celebrated 4-wheeled model.

Morgan’s crowning vehicle for fifty years, the Morgan Plus 8 continues to pioneer new technology within the classic Morgan bloodline. Deriving its name from the famed eight cylinder engines it has adopted throughout its 50 years, the Plus 8 consistently offers the greatest power to weight ratio of any Morgan.

The Morgan Plus 8 is the ultimate combination of craftsmanship, luxury and technology. A lightweight aluminium chassis and 4.8 litre BMW engine sit beneath the traditional Morgan body. At just 1100kg, the Plus 8 is one of the lightest V8 passenger cars in the world and is capable of 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph.

First conceived by Peter Morgan, the head-turning Plus 8 prototype was revealed to the public at the Earls Court Motor Show of 1968. With a Rover V8 engine and a Moss gear box, the original Plus 8 was based on a Plus 4, however was proportionally bigger and featured a large number of changed or upgraded hand-crafted parts.

The British coachbuilder’s first Plus 8 production model, MMC11, was one of the most successful cars that the company has ever built, and production continued for 36 years. Approximately 6,000 Plus 8s were built at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road factory until the model was discontinued in 2004 when the production of Rover V8 engines ceased.

In 2012, the Plus 8 was reborn into the Morgan range, on a lightweight aluminium chassis with the powerful 4.8 litre BMW engine, as used in the Aero range. With a restyled body, the new Plus 8 was proportionally larger and significantly quicker than any ‘classic’ Morgan before it.

This very special car will be the star of the show on the Morgan stand when it makes its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show next March alongside the race-inspired Aero GT.

Steve Morris, Managing Director of Morgan Motor Company, said:

The Plus 8 has always been the driver’s Morgan. Born of the racetrack, and having been no stranger to it since, has meant performance pedigree underpins every Plus 8 we have built. The Plus 8 has raced, and won, all over the world and has a fanatical following among Morgan owners.

“We can’t reveal everything about the Plus 8 50th Anniversary Special Edition yet but we’re excited to show some teaser images today. We can’t wait to unveil the car at Geneva in March.”

Jon Wells, Head of Design at Morgan Motor company said:

Each design detail of the Plus 8 50th has been considered to celebrate the Plus 8 and what it has meant to Morgan and its customers over the last 50 years. This famous V8 was a darling of the automotive industry in the sixties and has today become an unrivalled machine offering raw exhilaration and effortless power delivery. Overlooking the long wide bonnet sat directly on the rear axle, when driving a plus 8 you are very aware of, not just its sound track, but its significance and its capability. The design of this special final edition hopes to do both justice.”

  • The EV3 will have a range of 120 miles and will offer the same exhilarating driving experience as the petrol version

  • The EV3 will go into production in Q3 in 2018 at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road factory

Project Update

Morgan Motor Company has announced a technical partnership with industry leaders Frazer-Nash Energy Systems as the all-electric Morgan EV3 prepares for production in 2018.

The EV3 extends Morgan’s truly unique offering. Industry leading, EV technology combines with a lightweight coach built body to offer an unparalleled mix of craftsmanship and technology.

Inspired by 1930’s Aero-engine race cars, classic motorcycles and 1950’s fantasy automatons, the EV3 embraces new technology while delivering the raw driving experience and traditional British craftsmanship synonymous with every Morgan.

First revealed in 2016, the head-turning EV3 signalled the British marque’s first production entrance into the world of all-electric propulsion, following the Plus E concept in 2012. Working in consultation with Frazer-Nash Energy Systems means that the EV3 will have greater performance with rapid charging technology, proven reliability, a lower centre of gravity and greater acceleration over and above what was previously expected.

As a result of the partnership, the production EV3 will feature all-new, more robust architecture, greater levels of torque, a stiffer chassis and underslung battery beneath the skin. Encased within the tubular space frame chassis is a 21 KWh Lithium Battery and a liquid cooled 34.8kW (41.8kW peak) FN A010229 motor driving the rear wheel. The EV3 will have a range of 120 miles and will provide occupants with a hands-on, exhilarating driving experience that has not previously been associated with electric vehicles. The production EV3 is anticipated to have comparable performance figures to its petrol sibling. Production will begin in Q3 of 2018 at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road factory following the completion of the model’s rigorous test and development programme.

Steve Morris, Managing Director of Morgan Motor Company, said:

“We are delighted to announce our technical partnership with Frazer-Nash Energy Systems as we enter this exciting phase of EV3 production. We have been working closely on optimizing the EV3’s architecture in every way to develop a car which will offer proven reliability range and cooling performance, combined with the pure driving experience that is expected of every hand-crafted Morgan.

“The greatest challenge lies within introducing EV technology into our factory; work flows, customer experience and supporting dealer network in a robust and most importantly safe manner. Frazer-Nash Energy Systems offer us every confidence in achieving this. This will result in Morgan’s first entrance to the world of EV being incredibly rewarding, but moreover sets the scene for many exiting future opportunities.”

Noamaan Siddiqi, Managing Director, Frazer-Nash Energy Systems said:

“The EV3 plays an important role in Morgan’s future strategy. Achieving Zero Emissions using electrification is a requirement no manufacturer can afford to ignore. Morgan have always embraced the latest technology within their vehicles to ensure they can continue to build relevant handcrafted British sports cars.

“At Frazer-Nash Energy Systems, we appreciate the heritage and craft that Morgan brings to the world of EV technology and we in turn will bring decades of EV expertise to ensure that EV3 customers will receive a car that is reliable, proven and exhilarating to drive, a thoroughbred Morgan. We are very pleased to be able to provide energy management and propulsion systems to the EV3. A lightweight, spirited driving experience beneath a coach built body is key to the identity of any Morgan. This remains a core focus throughout the development of the EV3.”

Following the huge success of the first range of Morgan Ale, the Morgan Motor Company and Friday Beer Co. are delighted to introduce a unique pilsner style craft lager to the range.

No. 29 Pils joins the previous range of Morgan Ale and is now available to purchase online exclusively through ‘Beer Hunter’.  The success of the Morgan Ale gift sets, available since February 2017, have led both local companies to expand the range and source an online supplier.

‘We are delighted to be introducing a new range of pilsner style craft lager to the already successful range between Morgan and Friday Beer. This is a great example of two local companies working together and we hope that many Morgan owners all around the world can enjoy a glass or two during the Christmas period.’

- Steve Morris, Managing Director

Morgan Motor Co.No.29 Pils is a unique pilsner style craft lager brewed by the Friday Beer Co using the world-famous Malvern Spring Water. This Czech style of pilsner is particularly special because of the smooth texture brought to it by the use of one of the world’s purest spring waters. The No.29 Pils is a bright, pale golden lager brewed using traditionally flavoured malts and European hops. The brew is fermented at a low temperature with a genuine lager yeast and cold conditioned for several weeks before bottling. Unusually for a lager, a small percentage of malted oats is included along with the barley. This results in a particularly complex and satisfying malt profile in the flavour. This unique craft-lager offers a fabulously refreshing alternative to many other lagers. Served chilled, it is great with food or on its own.
